Singing Lessons

Singing lessons at Millennium Music include the following

  • Correct vocal technique focusing specifically on diaphragm, breathing and breath control, mouth shape and vowel annunciation, tone production and body posture
  • Scales and warm ups - These exercised are essential in the development of pitch awareness, placement or the voice and practice of correct technique
  • Performance - Singers will be given the chance to explore crucial performance techniques including hand gestures, facial expression and emotion within a song. Students will be taught how best to express such emotions, how to use the stage area and how to find confidence and courage when singing in front of an audience.
  • A large range of musical genre including RnB, gospel, rock, pop, slow jams, ballads and hip hop.
  • The unexpected! Singing lessons include many different props such as corks, scarves, mirrors and even physical exercise such as star jumps and sit ups. These are all to help understand how various aspects of the body should function when you sing.

Guitar Lessons at Millennium Music include the following

  • Correct fingering and hand position, understanding how to get the best tone out of the guitar. We use exercises and warm-ups to increase speed and flow between notes.
  • Strumming and picking techniques, focusing on different rhythms and musical styles. Students learn how to play a huge range of chords, from simple open chords through to more complicated jazz chords.
  • Reading music notation and tablature so you become a competent sight-reader. A competent sight-reader can learn new songs more quickly.
  • Guitar theory - Having an understanding of how music is formed is vital to becoming a good musician.
  • Playing by ear - Understanding how different notes or chords fit together and developing your ear to a point where you can listen to a song and play it.
